While the kihci-okāwīmāw askiy Knowledge Centre does not administer academic programs, we play an important role in highlighting land‑related academic programs offered by the College of Agriculture and Bioresources, ensuring Indigenous communities are aware of opportunities that align with their goals.

Kanawayihetaytan Askiy (KA)

Certificate

Kanawayihetaytan Askiy is a uniquely designed certificate program that is focused on providing a broad range of topic areas specific to the management of lands and resources on federal reserve lands. This program examines basic environmental, legal and economic aspects of land and resource management in Aboriginal communities.

Indigenous Resource Management Diploma

This program teaches students the skills required for future employment as land managers as well as the scientific and traditional knowledge required for research and decision-making.

Indigenous Lands Governance Diploma

This program provides a background in governance, management, administration and political science as they relate to Aboriginal communities.

Precision Agriculture Certificate

Precision Agriculture is the precise management of crops to increase both production and sustainability. This program is designed to allow you to gain knowledge and to develop experiential skill in precision agriculture by leveraging skills from your academic discipline. You will learn about the technologies used in precision agriculture (satellite imagery, global positioning systems, etc.) to measure and manage variability in crop production.

This program uses applied science to cover topics such as the management of land, biotic and water resources. Through field-work and group projects, students gain technical skills that will ensure high employability. Inquiry-based learning and ample opportunity for practical experience make this program unique.
